40th Anniversary: Virginia Tech First Lesbian Gay Awareness Week
Forty years ago, the Virginia Tech Gay Student Alliance held the first Gay Awareness Week to promote awareness of the gay and lesbian community. A high point was Denim Day, when all were invited to show their support of gay rights by wearing denim. Only a handful of people wore denim and more than 25,000 letters of dissent were sent to the university. #VTDenimDayDoOver. Join the entire community during Pride Week to commemorate history and celebrate our progress.
