Nutcracker Open Casting & Auditions

Join the Blacksburg Ballet on the beautiful Moss Arts Center Stage in December! Open Casting & Auditions will be held on Saturday, September 14th 12:00-12:45 pm at 1101 North Main St. in Blacksburg. 12:00-12:45 pm Inexperienced Dancers/Movers ages 5-11 12:45-1:30 pm Inexperienced Dancers/Movers ages 12+ 1:30-2:15 pm Experienced Dancers ages 5-11 2:15-3:00 pm Experienced Dancers ages 12+ Participants will just need to wear dance attire (can be ballet or jazz). They will learn a short combination, then perform in smaller groups in front of our Directors. Please note that performers are expected to warm themselves up prior to their audition time. A smaller studio will be available for this purpose beginning at 11:30 am. Dancers who would like to perform en pointe should audition in their pointe shoes! Weekly rehearsals will be scheduled during our Friday and Saturday time blocks based on performer role. ALL performers should block off the following dates: Monday, November 25 - Act 1 In-studio Tech Rehearsal Tuesday, November 26 - Act 2 In-studio Tech Rehearsal Monday, December 9 - Act 1 In-studio Tech Rehearsal Tuesday, December 10 - Act 2 In-studio Tech Rehearsal Wednesday, December 11 - Act 1 Dress Rehearsal @ MAC Thursday, December 12 - Act 2 Dress Rehearsal @ MAC Friday, December 13 - Field Trip Performances @ MAC (select routines ONLY) Saturday, December 14 - Featured Performances @ MAC Performance costs include a $25 performance fee (digital media and venue rental) and $25 per costume rental fee. Tickets are purchased directly through the Moss Arts Center.
