CUMULUS MEDIA – Blacksburg (105.3 The Bear, Mix 100.7, NASH Country 107PSK, News/Talk WFNR 710/103.5, CBS Sports/Super Sports 101.7 and Good Time Oldies 1460 WRAD) is seeking an experienced Outside (B2B) Sales Representative who is passionate about Sports and thrives in a fast-paced working environment.  The Director of Sports Sponsorships will leverage our exclusive, high-profile sports assets to maximize revenue and exceed sales goals. Sports assets include: Virginia Tech Sports on The Flagship Stations for Virginia Tech (105.3 The Bear, Mix 100.7 and CBS Sports/SuperSports 101.7);  Radford University Sports (on CBS Sports/SuperSports 101.7 and Good Time Oldies), Pulaski Yankees Play-by-Play, NASCAR, NFL and NCAA Football, CBS Sports Network and Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Radford and Pulaski County High School Football on the premier High School Football stations throughout the New River Valley.  In return, we offer a unique career opportunity: one where you are given a challenging mission, world-class tools to help you succeed, and the chance to realize your full potential as a sales professional. 

Director of Sports Sponsorships

  • Recognized top sales performer with a track record of over-achieving sales goals (top 10-20% of company) in past positions.
  • Excel at prospecting and aggressively seeking new clientele by networking, cold calling, canvassing, referrals or other means to develop new partners and sponsors
  • Developing and and presenting sponsorship packages.
  • Have strong listening and presentation skills and the ability to quickly build lucrative client relationships
  • Stay abreast of the competitive landscape and emerging technologies to best position Cumulus in the marketplace
  • Possess rare people skills which allow you to get out in front of problems and proactively provide solutions
  • Collaborate with other members of the Business Development Sales team as necessary to provide exceptional service and unbeatable solutions for our clients in a consultative manner. It will be necessary to co-manage the same accounts in certain situations, i.e., work together to bundle Sports Sponsorships with Branding Plans and Digital Assets.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 yrs. broadcast media Advertising Sales and/or Sports Sponsorship Sales experience.
  • A strong work ethic
