About Us

At an elevation of 1800 feet in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia, owners Debby and Jessee Ring passionately produce two classic wine grapes – Riesling and Pinot Noir. The wines are estate grown, produced, and bottled on the premises in Giles County.

Jessee and Debby have been tasting and learning about wines from around the world for years. Jessee is now a certified winemaker from University of California, Davis.

The first trial planting of our wine grapes occurred in 2006. Based on initial results, that vineyard was replanted and expanded in 2009. A second vineyard was planted in 2016.

Starting wine making in their basement in 2012, Debby and Jessee opened a state- of the- art facility in the fall of 2017. At JBR, the Riesling grape is made in the traditional German style with some residual sugar that is balanced by the natural high acidity of the Riesling grape. Rarely grown in Virginia, this wine is in a class of its own.

The Pinot Noir grape takes on a distinctive character based on the local terroir. It produces a robust wine with deep ruby color and hints of cherry flavors.

Tastings are relaxed and personalized according to the customers’ wishes. All questions are gladly answered. Kids and dogs are welcome.

JBR can accommodate up to 26 people for special tastings – wedding showers, book groups, family reunions, etc.

Watch for special tastings during our Dog Days of Summer events and the annual Pawpaw Festival.
